![]() "I came hoping for a jump start, I experienced a rocket launch." Janice, Charlotte, NC You
have always dreamed of being a published writer. Images of yourself as an author are held dear to your heart but as time goes by, you find yourself no closer to actualizing your dream. You have a wonderful and very well
developed list of reasons why you are not writing. When you do manage to sit down and work, your thoughts skitter and whirl. Characters, plots, stories, and ideas prove elusive as you try to grasp them and
place them on the page. And once you have written, you are lost as to what to do next. The world of agents, publishers, and editors is foreign and intimidating. How do you become the author you know
you can be? Where do you start? These two successfully published authors and experienced teachers know every bend (real and psychological) of the road from ideas and good intentions to published books. They have mapped that road and divided it into manageable/accessible steps detailing the process from the first flutter of creativity to signing your name on that publishing contract. Kathleen and Karen can show you the way to writing success and are passionate about teaching this information to others. Partnering with Ruth Fordon and Ken DeBarth of Island Path, Brehony and Jones are delighted to offer this powerful writing seminar and creative retreat, The Complete Writer, on beautiful Ocracoke Island, 23 miles off the coast of North Carolina. Liberating your creative flow, building the discipline required of a professional writer, developing your craft, and acquiring the expertise necessary for submitting your work to agents and publishers are only a few of the skills you will acquire during this compelling and energizing week. Hands-on instruction, ample time to write with clear and specific feedback, and an in-depth understanding of the steps involved in getting published are just part of this incredible, experiential workshop. Every participant will leave with the tools necessary to turn their writing dreams into reality. This creative retreat is for everyone. Whether you have just started writing or have been published, this workshop will help you to further your commitment to the writing life. Space is necessarily limited to those individuals who want to claim their dream and begin, in earnest, on their own road to being a published author or to recommit to continuing their work. It is an excellent place to explore new styles, learn new techniques, and make new friends. "I am amazed that in one week's time I have become a better writer and a better person." Elizabeth, Beaufort, NC The Complete Writer: Combining Business and Creativity for Writing Success workshops are held on what is considered the jewel of North Carolina's Outer Banks, Ocracoke Island with vast beaches, fine surf fishing, wonderful nature experiences, kayaking on inland waterways, bicycling around the quaint village, and even the chance to try and find Blackbeard's elusive treasure! Students will participate in structured workshops with guided instruction and use their experience exploring the island in their writing. Ocracoke Island, accessible only by ferry, provides the perfect ambience for harvesting the discipline and creative juices necessary for meeting your goals as a writer.
